About Me

My photo
Welcome, my name is Sylvia Smiser. I am a self taught artist. I enjoy creating one of a kind art dolls and sculpted figures. Vintage Halloween styled artwork and Dia de los Muertos art dolls is what comes naturally to me and what I am most passionate about creating. I am a proud member of the wonderful art groups EHAG (Eclectic Halloween Artists Guild) and PFATT (Primitive Folk Art Talk & Tea). I am a participating artist at Ghoultide Gathering. I am honored to have been published in Art Doll Quarterly, Dolls magazine, Somerset Studio Gallery and Celebrate 365 Magazine. I am also a Physical Therapist and Mama to 15 year old Boy/Girl Twins. My husband is a wonderful man who is very supportive of my art and together with our two doggy fur kids we make one happy, busy family.

Halloween Queen's Castle Bootique Update Tomorrow! Meet Uncle Chaz...

Hello Everyone,
First of all I want to thank you for being such a wonderful group of supporters.  I have received so many kind words and compliments on the Ghostie ornament I made for the Halloween Queens Big Easterween giveaway that I decided to make another family member in the Ghostie clan.  Meet Uncle Chaz.  He is an old soul but still likes to have young fun! You see, Uncle Chaz loves to chase the ghostie girls and he loves it even more when they chase him back.  Here he is enjoying the chase and having the time of his life..oh umm err...death?!
Uncle Chaz will be for sale on the Halloween Queens Castle Bootique Update June 1st!

I'm SOOO Excited!!! I've been published in Somerset Studio Gallery!!!

I found out I have been published in a strange sort of way.  You see this week was terribly busy working 10 1/2 hour days and having to drive 40 min to and from work. So when I got home Tues. and got the mail, I just set a magazine aside thinking it was one of my subscriptions.  I was too tired to enjoy it so I thought I'd save it for later.
Well the week just kept getting busier and busier and the magazine got buried under a pile of mail. I'm almost embarrassed to say that I did not get to that pile of mail until today and when I saw that it was not a magazine I subscribe to I was puzzled. On further inspection I saw a note that began with "Congratulations..."  I about fell over, I could not believe that I was published in this magazine!  It's really kind of crazy as I submitted these boxes I made in 2009 over 15 months ago and I had lost hope that they would be considered for publication.  Then, out of the blue, there it is. Needless to say I am still flying high on excitement!
It's interesting to see how much I have grown in 2 years and it's very nice to have a public record of your artistic growth. : )

This magazine will hit the newsstands and Bookstores on June 1st.
Have a wonderful week!

Happy Mother's Day! and Sneak Peak at PFATT Marketplace offering

This is my Beautiful Mama that I love with all my heart. I wanted to start this post with celebrating all the moms out there on this gorgeous Sunday afternoon. Thank you for all the sacrifices you make to give the best you can to your children. Thank you for loving us no matter what and Thank you for always being so encouraging and our biggest cheerleader.  Even though we never say it enough, we love you more than words can ever express.  Happy Mothers Day!

I also wanted to share a quick picture of my PFATT Marketplace offering.
I call them "Trick or Treat" Halloween Dollings (small dolls).  They are 3 1/2 inches tall except the witch, she is 5 inches tall because of her hat.  These are being offered at $10 each or all 5 for $40.
There is only one set of these one of a kind dollings available and they will be available on a first come first served basis when the PFATT Marketplace updates on May 10th at 10 a.m.
Thank you for stopping in for a visit. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!
