About Me

My photo
Welcome, my name is Sylvia Smiser. I am a self taught artist. I enjoy creating one of a kind art dolls and sculpted figures. Vintage Halloween styled artwork and Dia de los Muertos art dolls is what comes naturally to me and what I am most passionate about creating. I am a proud member of the wonderful art groups EHAG (Eclectic Halloween Artists Guild) and PFATT (Primitive Folk Art Talk & Tea). I am a participating artist at Ghoultide Gathering. I am honored to have been published in Art Doll Quarterly, Dolls magazine, Somerset Studio Gallery and Celebrate 365 Magazine. I am also a Physical Therapist and Mama to 15 year old Boy/Girl Twins. My husband is a wonderful man who is very supportive of my art and together with our two doggy fur kids we make one happy, busy family.

WIPs

Although work has been really busy and the kids are out for Summer break. I have slowly but surely been sculpting and creating. Here is a preview of my new little creatures. I have enhanced this picture of my works in progress. I hope to get a few of these done this weekend, wish me luck.

  2. Those look fabulous!! You are sooooo talented, Sylvia!! I have never worked in clay. Would it work for beads? I would love to make little face beads!

  3. Kit,
Thank you so much for your compliments! I think it would work for beads but for really tiny detail it may get a little tricky. I think small tools would be key, hey that gives me and idea. The inside workings of a click pen would work for a lot of the tools I normally use but in miniature.
There are some really outstanding artist that work in miniature scale but I think they use polymer clay instead of paperclay.
    Hugs back at ya'
