About Me

My photo
Welcome, my name is Sylvia Smiser. I am a self taught artist. I enjoy creating one of a kind art dolls and sculpted figures. Vintage Halloween styled artwork and Dia de los Muertos art dolls is what comes naturally to me and what I am most passionate about creating. I am a proud member of the wonderful art groups EHAG (Eclectic Halloween Artists Guild) and PFATT (Primitive Folk Art Talk & Tea). I am a participating artist at Ghoultide Gathering. I am honored to have been published in Art Doll Quarterly, Dolls magazine, Somerset Studio Gallery and Celebrate 365 Magazine. I am also a Physical Therapist and Mama to 15 year old Boy/Girl Twins. My husband is a wonderful man who is very supportive of my art and together with our two doggy fur kids we make one happy, busy family.

Embracing 2014 with new WIPs

It's hard to believe that January is almost over.  It's been so busy around here with Holiday fun that I have not had much creating time and frankly, it's been driving me mad!  Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas and New Years.  I have just come to realize that I need to create, like I need food and water.
Sculpting for me is almost euphoric and I become totally engrossed in what I'm doing and I LOVE IT.

Recently I got some time to begin my first pieces of 2014.  I'd like to share with you some quick pictures of these works in progress…

I will soon get to announce, "He's Alive! He's Alive!" Hee Hee

Then, as you know, I love my little skellies.
I have new fabrics and antique trims I'm excited to dress these in.

I also have a couple of other larger scale skellies and a quirky pumpkin guy sculpted.
No WIP photos of those but I will be sure to post them here when they are finished.
I hope you've enjoyed this peak into my process.
I will be back soon to show you more.
Have a wonderful week!
~Sylvia~
